Attended Thomas Jefferson, West Junior, Binghamton Central and Johnson City High School. Attended MDTA Drafting and Design Program at Binghamton North High School. Correspondence Course with New York Institute of Photography. Published both as an Amateur and Professional. Attended USN Fleet Sonar School for Sonar & Electronics. Served as a Sonarman Petty Officer on the USCGC Spencer in the United States Coast Guard. Was also a team member of the Coast Guard Marching Honor Guard. Professional Positions: Lifeguard, Dishwasher, Cook, Pin Setter, Typesetter, Drafter, Loftsman, Designer, Design Engineer, Project Coordinator, Professional Photographer, Electrical Supervisor, 1st Line Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Superintendent, and AutoCad Technician. (Best Job so far: working at Car Wash and living at Home) Retired early. I am no longer looking for the right job. RESUME PROFESSIONAL:
(1956 - 2002) DRAFTER
- BOMAC Corporation, East Syracuse, N.Y. – Drafting and Layout of
PLC Panels, and the associated schematics, and diagrams. I accepted this
position with intentions to replace the soon to retire Drafting Manager. Shortly
after, Company reduction of forces due to 911 sealed my fate. It was time to
really retire. DESIGN
DRAFTSPERSON
- Reynolds Metals, Massena, N.Y. - Responsible for the St. Lawrence drafting
area (files, equipment, Cad Stations, etc.); Prepared drawings; Assisted Project
Engineers, Maintenance, and Production personnel on related projects. Reported
to the Plant Engineer. Disciplines included: Facilities, Equipment design,
Elec./Mechanical, Schematics, PLC, Civil, Piping, Industrial Mobile Equipment,
and other disciplines needed at an aluminum reduction plant and foundry. Took
early retirement resulting from Alcoa buy out. MECHANICAL
MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
- Reynolds Metals, Massena, N.Y. - 2nd Shift Plant Maintenance
Supervisor and then Day shift Relief Supervisor. Reported to General Supervisor,
Relieved all Area First Line Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors in their
specific areas, and filled with special projects throughout the facility during
non-relief periods. SENIOR
DRAFTSPERSON
- Reynolds Metals, Massena, N.Y. - Detail, Layout, & Design Drafting of
Facilities, equipment, schematics, etc. Reported to Senior Engineer. ELECTRICAL
MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
– Nitec Paper Company Mill #2 – Actually hired twice for this position.
Company cutback caused by a manager pilfering company funds, eliminated this and
other supervisory positions. Refusing the offer of a journeyman position I chose
to seek work elsewhere. MAINTENANCE
SUPERINTENDENT
- Columbia Mills, Minetto, N.Y. - Responsible for all maintenance, repairs, and
new installations for a 600,000 sq. ft. vinyl/cloth mill/processing plant and
the surrounding grounds. Reported to the Plant Engineer. PROJECT
COORDINATOR
- Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. – Responsible for establishing a
Design/Drafting area following a major campus renovation by Tallman &
Thomas. Projects included redesign of the existing Football field, campus
infirmary, and numerous building areas. Supervised
campus staff or responsible for contractors on some related projects. Reported
to Director of Physical Plant. PROFESSIONAL
PHOTOGRAPHER
- Self employed – Aerial photography (Mobile & Texaco contract), Real
Estate, Weddings, Portrait, and general photography.
I was also volunteer photographer for the Boy Scouts, winner of N.Y.S
Fair Photo Contest, with other awards and published photos. DESIGN
ENGINEER
- GAF Corp., Johnson City, N.Y. - Asked to join the Company while employed as a
“sub-contractor”. Duties
consisted primarily of redesign or layout of existing buildings, coating and
converting equipment, and material-handling systems used to produce drafting and
copier paper and film. Reported to the Plant Engineer. (SUBCONTRACT)
DESIGNER/LAYOUT DRAFTSPERSON
- Subcontracted to various companies to numerous to list.
Projects were as diversified as: The X-22a Vertical take-off aircraft, a
railroad siding/dock, IBM 8k BOM (memory system), templates for the skin of the
Boeing 747 tail section, an automated warehouse, a portable voting machine,
redesign of Kodak film production equipment, modification of a Link Trainer
interface, welding jigs, critical depth air knife, printed circuit boards, etc. DETAIL
DRAFTSPERSON
- General Dynamics Electronics, Rochester, N.Y. – Printed circuit boards,
electrical/mechanical detailing, and packaging design. DRAFTSPERSON
- E.H. Titchner & Co., Binghamton, N.Y. - Detailing, layout, and design of
dies, gages, and fixtures. I also redesigned customer products to facilitate the
use of Brite Basic Wire. FINALLY,
let me add some earlier positions like setting pins at the American Legion,
washing dishes at the Ritz Tea Room, melting and pouring printers lead at
Hall’s Printing and binding, and one of my favorite jobs: being the driver at
