Boat ride in Destin We decided to take a boat excursion to see the Dolphins before Jess returned to Oregon. Those locally were closed for the holidays so we drove to Destin for the better part of the day. At the HarborWalk Marina, we took a 42' vessel called the Southern Star into the Bay of Destin and then out in the Gulf of Mexico.
To the left of our dockage was the Lucky Snapper Restaurant over shadowed by a new condo being built. To the right, another establishment called Sharky's.
Although Destin Bay is much larger than shown; the telephoto brings in the Condo's, Private residence's, Marina's, and Retail establishments, that are intermingled along the shore. Below I will highlight some of what we saw. The Daniel Webster Clements (a reproduction).
A yacht owned by the Dupont's (Mahogany bath and all) .
Private residences and Condos. Cormorants occupy pilings where a marina once stood. A bird uses an unoccupied vessel to take a nap.
Pelicans Do their thing.
I only photographed a few dolphins. Movies were much easier. (The dolphins move so fast, that still shots were not easy. By the time I located one through the viewfinder, he was usually going back under.)
