MAX

Many of you knew our dog MAX. Yesterday, August 21, 2008 we chose to let him go. We could see his body shutting down. Although going for a boat ride, having his hair brushed by Dara, or listening to Jess on the phone rallied him; we chose to let him suffer no longer. As he passed into whatever awaits him, we held him close as he felt his bear and held the scent of Jessica on a favored toy.

MAX was special. He was not the smartest dog, but I am sure he was in the top 1%. He lived to be over 12 years old (about 87 in dog years) and remained a puppy most of that time. He cheated the Vet’s prognosis by 5 months, and we are grateful for each and every day. Like most dogs he gave us unconditional love. There is a hole in our lives that can never be filled. Hopefully our re-occurring tears will soon stop. To quote Jess, “He was The Best Boy”

The last three pictures taken that we will keep are below.

Some Early Favorites are Dara Trying to Teach him to stand

and Jess Teaching him to love the water

Max shows his stuff at an early age & takes Best of Breed

Jess taught him well

He also loved to boat

Sometimes he was Fuzzy but more often not

He loved his Bear

He loved his bouy.  Tossing it over his head, rolling it with his nose, or fetching.

Not shown, but he could also dive, climb the ladder to get out, or count like Digger

He loved Xmas and Birthdays too

Inside his favorite alone place was on the bed, looking out the window

Any beach would do

I am sorry I just realized I have 100's of favorite pictures of Max. I will throw a bunch in without discussing and let it rest.

I will stop here. Thank you for looking. It has been good therapy for me to do.

If I need more (therapy), I will start a book.

Max and the Bear will be cremated this week and will return home to rest in a custom urn we have ordered.

March 1996 - August 2008

A special dog, even for us. He still brings tears.... He rests in the custom made box below:
