STORY PAGE join the navy ???????????? If you have read anything by me about the Coast Guard, you can probably surmise that my four-year plus stay was sweet and sour. Those who know me real well, can attest that most (but not all) of the sour was due to my personal life and not the Coast Guard. That said, my service as a “Coastie” is remembered with many fond memories, new and old friends. Over the years I have met many Navy men who have switched to the Coast Guard and even made it their career. I have yet to meet a “Coastie” who has done the opposite. Do you suppose the Navy is trying to change this? I can see them trying to recruit our fine sailors of today, but a person in his late 60’s??????????????????????????? See below.
